Editorial Interns for Kweli Journal

This opportunity is available during Summer 2022 semester. This opportunity can be conducted virtually and is only available for CEL credit.

Kweli is a not-for-profit arts organization devoted to nurturing emerging writers of color. We launched as a biannual journal in December 2009. Since our humble beginnings, Kweli has grown into a multifaceted community organization that offers numerous writing opportunities. Kweli alum include 2019 National Book Award finalist Kali Fajardo-Anstine, 2019 PEN/Robert J. Dau Short Story Award winner John Paul Infante and 2019 Best American Essay Notable winner Jodi M. Savage.

Position Description:

Assist editors with the online magazine. Students will be directly involved in every step of the editorial process, including: editorial research, reporting, fact checking and copy editing, writing and blogging, photo research, web production, updating site elements and managing social media. Students will also work on a dedicated writing or multimedia project with an editor-mentor and develop at least one piece for publication.
