The power of symbiosis<\/a><\/h4>\n<h2>Symbiosis Biology<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">The beautiful and biodiverse coral reef ecosystem is built upon the back of a symbiotic interaction between corals and photosynthetic algal symbionts.&nbsp; The symbionts produce food and stimulate growth of the coral skeleton, resulting in growth rates &nbsp;to<a href=\"http:\/\/pages.vassar.edu\/joschwarz\/files\/2012\/02\/aiptasia_gfp1.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-107 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/pages.vassar.edu\/joschwarz\/files\/2012\/02\/aiptasia_gfp1-300x237.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"165\" height=\"132\"\/><\/a> support the hundreds of species that comprise coral reef ecosystems.&nbsp;
