They make our hallways and buildings neat and clean, serve us with wonderful food and make Vassar a comfortable place like home. Wondering what these nice people like?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: center\"><span class=\"s1\">Let\u2019s welcome <span style=\"color: #00ccff\"><strong>Alma Leyva<\/strong><\/span>!<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"line-height: 1.5\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <strong>Where are you from? Nationality?<\/strong> \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\"><strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">Mexico<\/span><\/strong>. But I am now an <strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">American citizen<\/span><\/strong>. I\u2019ve been in America for <strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">23<\/span><\/strong> years, haha a long time.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: center\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">What\u2019s your job at Vassar?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: center\"><span class=\"s1\">I\u2019ve worked on the third shift for <strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">cleaning<\/span><\/strong> for 13 years, cleaning <strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">Main building<\/span><\/strong> and the <strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">Walker Field House<\/span><\/strong>. Also <strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">Raymond<\/span><\/strong> and the <strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">library<\/span><\/strong> are my buildings, 4 hours in the library and 4 hours in Raymond.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">It\u2019s my job, everyone is so nice, every student is so nice, they always smile and say thank you. My boss is a very good superviser. I am very <strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">happy<\/span><\/strong> working in this building.<strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff\"> I love my job<\/span><\/strong>, no problem.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: center\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">Why did and how did you come to America?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: center\"><span class=\"s1\">When I was\u00a0<strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">17<\/span><\/strong> years old I came here for a\u00a0<strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">vacation<\/span><\/strong>, as my father had been living here for a long time. And then <strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">I stayed here<\/span><\/strong>, hahaha. At that time I had\u00a0<strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">two jobs<\/span><\/strong> and <strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">sent money back to my family<\/span><\/strong> in Mexico. Sometimes the work was stressful, it was difficult for me to communicate in English at the very beginning.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: center\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">When will you go back home? Or go\u00a0visit your home country?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: center\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">Often<\/span><\/strong>! I will visit my family in Mexico this <strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">Sunday<\/span><\/strong>!<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: center\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">One thing you feel is the most different here from your home country.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: center\"><span class=\"s1\">The <strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">food<\/span><\/strong> is different, OMG yes. I miss\u00a0Mexican food, though\u00a0I love American food too. But\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">I love this country, I am happy here. <strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">I love my job and everything.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: center\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">What do you miss the most about your home country?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: center\"><span class=\"s1\">My <strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">family<\/span><\/strong>, my grandma, grandpa and uncle. Everybody! I miss my close family.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: center\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Did you encounter difficulties when first getting to USA?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: center\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">No<\/span><\/strong> actually, cause my father was here. My first job was at a Mexican restaurant, everyone spoke Spanish haha. No problem.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: center\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">What is the food you like best from your home county?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: center\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong><span style=\"color: #00ccff\">Tamales, Quesadillas and taco<\/span><\/strong>.
