{"id":366,"date":"2018-10-15T08:12:14","date_gmt":"2018-10-15T12:12:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pages.vassar.edu\/historicenvironments\/?p=366"},"modified":"2018-10-15T08:12:14","modified_gmt":"2018-10-15T12:12:14","slug":"brochure-of-favorite-hudson-valley-places","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pages.vassar.edu\/historicenvironments\/2018\/10\/15\/brochure-of-favorite-hudson-valley-places\/","title":{"rendered":"Brochure of Favorite Hudson Valley Places"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Fall 2018 version of this 6-week course has come to an end.<\/p>\n<p>We visited<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the Appalachian Trail at Nuclear Lake,<\/li>\n<li>the historic house properties of Locust Grove, Maple Grove, and Springside,<\/li>\n<li>Matthew Vassar&#8217;s grave at the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery,<\/li>\n<li>the Slabsides cabin of John Burroughs,<\/li>\n<li>the cemeteries of the Ulster and Dutchess County Poorhouses,<\/li>\n<li>the Innisfree Garden,<\/li>\n<li>the Scenic Hudson park at West Point Foundry,<\/li>\n<li>the waterfront of Cold Spring,<\/li>\n<li>the Cary Institute for Ecosystems Studies,<\/li>\n<li>and the Millbrook Tribute Gardens.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The students discussed their experiences at these places and came up with their top 4 places where the complexity of the Hudson Valley&#8217;s green spaces can best be experiences.
