On Sunday, a group of intrepid project members gathered to display beautiful, colorful Haitian art on the walls at Babycakes, where it will hang into early November. Go check it out!
The month will culminate in a semi-formal benefit dinner at Babycakes. Proceeds from the sale of artwork and the dinner will go towards the Education: Here and There initiative, which seeks to support education in Chermaitre, as well as raise awareness about Haiti at Vassar and in the surrounding Poughkeepsie community. Key to this effort is the student trip to Haiti, which will take place the for the second time in March 2010. I had the great honor of being part of that first trip two years ago, which was a transformative experience.
Visit Babycakes, see the art, learn about the project, and check back to learn more about the gala dinner on November 5!
