Pack Day for our March trip to Haiti!
March 10, 2013 by royzelman
Twelve hours until we board the plane to Port-au-Prince, Haiti!
We are, as always, tired but excited! After all the fundraising and planning, we are finally here. We’re ready to put midterms, life stress and little concerns behind us, and jump right into the opportunity and honor of representing our fellow VHP-ers on this trip to Haiti.
(We’re also extremely eager to put our Creole to work and to finally meet the wonderful George Desarmes, whose artwork has been featured at many a VHP sale.)
Manny: *Sneeze*! (I’m allergic to the cat hair at Andrew and Lila’s place.)
Tamsin: SO PUMPED. N ap boule!
Annie: I’m failing at live-tweeting pack day, but I’m succeeding at actually packing! I’m looking forward to seeing a real Haitian market in action after so many years of admiring Haitian market scene paintings, and especially to playing with the kids!
Robyn: M rele Robyn. Blanc sa a ka pale Kreyol! Translation: My name is Robyn. This foreigner can speak Creole!
Sida: READY TO GO!
Priscilla: I can’t wait to meet more people like Haitian grandpa!!
Mai: DINNER’S READY! LET’S EAT!
Carrie: Can’t wait to see the kids and Chermaitre itself!
Lila: How did I get roped into this?!
Lorraine: I cannot wait to be immersed in Haiti’s culture and to see the children of Chermaitre!
Ning: We will get soooo tanned~^^ Can’t wait for Haiti!
Andrew: Bring it on!
You all look so perfectly great. I am excited for you & your trip.
Have the greatest amount of fun and do good work. Keep in touch and bring some of the experience back to us if possible.
Love to all there, & to Haiti.
Lou
Moja mbili tatu everyone!!! Tips for the trippers:
1. If you see any baby tarantulas, please call Andrew. He will get beyond excited!

5. Have fun, be open, come back with amazing stories and take great care of Andrew and Lila!
Bon vwayj!
Hi all you wonderful trippers!! You look so ready; I know it is going to be an incredible experience for all of you. Even if you have been to Haiti once before or to Chermaitre once before, each time is completely new. I wish so much that I were on this trip with you; I cannot believe I am not there spraying clothes and accidentally one another with permethrin! Okay, so a few words of Mama C wisdom for your trip. Make sure to take your malarone at the same time everyday,, and don’t forget to deet up before you leave your comfy mosquito net. Wear sunscreen. Drink lots of water. Do not secretly wish the rooster would stop shrieking in the middle of the night…….(it will), Make sure to have two bottles of h20 for the climb up – one for you and one for whoever is accompanying you. Enjoy the stars at night – you will never have seen so many in your life before. And mostly, Do, BE, and laugh lots!
And give Chermaitre my love!
Love to all of you
I congratulate you on your devotion to a noble cause. You are bringing spring, hope to the people of Haiti, and I am sure they will be deeply grateful to you. Have a nice trip and may God bless you all.

Wonderful trip with lovely trippers. Should be sweet memories with different culture. It is life, different person has different lives.
