The army of volunteers who are dedicated beyond expectation have finished setting up the sale in Vassar’s College Center. The room is incredible..it is bursting with color, energy and aliveness.
This is the real time to help Haiti…when it is out of the news and still in need – it is overwhelming for us to digest just how strong the need is. We saw it firsthand in Haiti last month and it is palpable.
We’ve supported the artists by giving them JOBS by buying their art since the earthquake. They need the money and the more we buy, the more food they can buy for their families….AND , we will continue to support our initiatives in Chermaitre on a grassroots level.
See you this weekend,
xoxo
Come see the beauty of Haitian art and handcrafts…
Could you please tell me more about your april event. I am very interested in hatian art and would like to know how the auction went and where to find more paintings for sale. Would like to know if the paintings are original .
thanks
Hi Amy,
The auction went very well. The sale and auction together raised over $55,000 for our project. Read the post entitled “N’ap bole” for a recap of the weekend. All of the paintings we sell are original. We buy them from artists and galleries in Haiti. You can see more paintings on our website: http://projects.vassar.edu/haiti/ . To order art, contact haitiproject@vassar.edu.
