Haitian News Flash: Earthquake
January 13, 2010 by admin
Today, Haiti was been hit by the strongest earthquake in 200 years, according to the Associated Press. Centered 10 miles west of Port-au-Prince, the earthquake caused significant damage to the densely populated city, including collapsing a hospital and damaging the Presidential Palace and the UN headquarters. Phone lines are down, and much of the news is coming from Twitter and text messages. There are now worries of a tsunami. We have yet to hear from our friends in Haiti. Our hearts are with them.
Read more about it here.
Pere Quatorze is safe, but we have not had news of the village in Chermaitre as of yet.
Our hearts and thoughts are with the people of Haiti and their families.
I pray the group is OK. Our 2 girls had been with the group for the past week, but left to go home the morning before the earthquake. They made it to the DR fine.
I pray for those people who have been injured in Haiti. the earthquake in Haiti is one of the word disasters this year. I just hope that they would be able to recover soon.
