Your edit is finished, now what? It’s time to export! We recommend that you first duplicate your sequence and rename it “Sequence Name + Export + Date”<\/strong> and set an in and out point for the length of your sequence. This way, you’ll always have a record in your project for the state of your edit at each export.<\/p>\n

Navigate to File > Export > Media<\/strong> or use the keyboard shortcut\u00a0“cmd+M”<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Premiere Pro Export Settings dialog box is simple and easy to navigate.<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. The blue text is your file name.\u00a0 Click on it to set an export destination and change it. A good file name (like\u00a0“Proj_Export_200205”<\/strong>) tells you everything you need to know and allows you to keep track of when it was created.<\/li>\n
  2. Select a format in the “Format”<\/strong> drop-down menu and a codec preset in the “Preset”<\/strong> drop down menu.<\/li>\n
  3. Double check that “Match Source”<\/strong> is selected in “Basic Video Settings”<\/strong><\/li>\n
  4. Click the “Export” button at the bottom for the Export Settings dialog box.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Vassar Film production classes export in two different formats:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    H.264<\/strong> is the best export setting for in-class viewing and uploading or sharing.\u00a0 It’s a highly compressed codec so the file size is usually nice and small.<\/p>\n

    • Preset: <\/span>High Quality 1080P HD<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
    • Basic Video Settings: Choose “Match Source”<\/strong> or set resolution to “1920×1080”<\/strong> and “Frame Rate”<\/strong> to\u00a0<\/span>23.98<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      QuickTime Apple ProRes 422 HQ<\/strong>\u00a0is a less compressed intraframe codec. It’s a great format for archival and our Codec for Sr Workshop Showcases.<\/p>\n
