{"id":1329,"date":"2014-11-04T15:38:31","date_gmt":"2014-11-04T20:38:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/pages.vassar.edu\/digital-storytelling-fall-2014\/?p=1329"},"modified":"2014-12-02T20:49:36","modified_gmt":"2014-12-03T01:49:36","slug":"the-story-of-dariona","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/pages.vassar.edu\/digital-storytelling-fall-2014\/2014\/11\/04\/the-story-of-dariona\/","title":{"rendered":"The story of Dariona"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hello and welcome to my story about place and belonging, staring Dariona.\u00a0 I have five photos that really captured my attention. \u00a0I feel they have many themes, like feeling alone and sad, being scared and trapped, and having a touch of confusion because I could easily identify the ideas within the sub-context.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-1330\" src=\"http:\/\/pages.vassar.edu\/digital-storytelling-fall-2014\/files\/2014\/11\/Girl-in-street.jpg\" alt=\"Girl in street\" width=\"320\" height=\"220\" \/><\/p>\n<p>For instance in the first picture it represents feeling out of place and alone. The little girl, Dariona, is by herself and kind of dirty, which shows her foster parents have abandoned her because they were treating her poorly.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pages.vassar.edu\/digital-storytelling-fall-2014\/files\/2014\/11\/Girl-in-Jar.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-1331\" src=\"http:\/\/pages.vassar.edu\/digital-storytelling-fall-2014\/files\/2014\/11\/Girl-in-Jar.jpg\" alt=\"Girl in Jar\" width=\"436\" height=\"226\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In addition in pictures 1 and 2 both versions of Dariona are trapped. In one picture a girl is inside of a jar and trying to escape because someone put her in the jar, because of the lifestyle that she was living.\u00a0 She is trying to escape so she can be reunited with her family, after leaving her family because she was treated poorly.\u00a0 After she is reunited with her family, another unfortunate event happens.\u00a0 What has happened to our Hero, Dariona.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pages.vassar.edu\/digital-storytelling-fall-2014\/files\/2014\/11\/Girl-and-the-beast.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-1332\" src=\"http:\/\/pages.vassar.edu\/digital-storytelling-fall-2014\/files\/2014\/11\/Girl-and-the-beast-300x118.jpg\" alt=\"Girl and the beast\" width=\"573\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Dariona finds herself in a scary, mountain plateau nearby a lake of unknown depth, where the creatures are very protective of their turf.\u00a0 She was traveling to a new country because there was a war occurring in her home country, however when crossing the mountain peak; she felt total fatigue of the journey and decided to take a good old sleep.\u00a0 She was awaken by sliding rocks, to find the most scary beast in all the land, but before she could even scream the beast bellowed a roar and made her voice disappear.\u00a0 She couldn\u2019t speak, so she decided to act by throwing a big rock in the beast\u2019s mouth, too give Dariona time to flee and escape not only the War but the beast.\u00a0 However the beast was not done, because it still wanted its meal, spit the big old rock at her.\u00a0 Dariona being acute at listening heard the rock flying and ducked to avoid the rock, and crush the appetite of the beast.\u00a0 She made it clear of the war and the beast to start afresh, trying to put off the terrible memories of the lost of her family.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pages.vassar.edu\/digital-storytelling-fall-2014\/files\/2014\/11\/Smokin-girl.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-1333\" src=\"http:\/\/pages.vassar.edu\/digital-storytelling-fall-2014\/files\/2014\/11\/Smokin-girl-300x180.jpg\" alt=\"Smokin' girl\" width=\"498\" height=\"180\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As for picture number 4, Dariona reinvents herself to be the opposite of her \u201cgoodie Two-shoes\u201d life style.\u00a0 She wants to prove that she can be successful without the help of family to define herself to a lifestyle that can be seen as cool. \u00a0\u00a0Cool is skipping school, smoking and being part of the counter culture movement.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/pages.vassar.edu\/digital-storytelling-fall-2014\/files\/2014\/11\/Fire-in-the-Room.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-1334\" src=\"http:\/\/pages.vassar.edu\/digital-storytelling-fall-2014\/files\/2014\/11\/Fire-in-the-Room-300x189.jpg\" alt=\"Fire in the Room\" width=\"433\" height=\"273\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pages.vassar.edu\/digital-storytelling-fall-2014\/files\/2014\/11\/Fire-in-the-Room-300x189.jpg 300w, https:\/\/pages.vassar.edu\/digital-storytelling-fall-2014\/files\/2014\/11\/Fire-in-the-Room.jpg 432w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 433px) 100vw, 433px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Dariona has grown up, she has isolated herself with the choices and the experiences she has gone through.\u00a0 As she reflects on the horror of her own family\u2019s death.\u00a0 Her husband was shot in front of her for trying to stop the assassination of the president, but stood up to the CIA heroically, and rather spend the rest of his life in prison away from his children, he chose to make a stand to expose the corruption of the CIA.\u00a0 To protect her family, Dariona, took her family to the cabin in the woods to be safe.\u00a0 But as this is an abandoned cabin there was no food.\u00a0 Dariona being a good mother ran out to a market that happened to be being robbed at the same time.\u00a0 Dariona escaped through the back door, to find her Cabin\u2019s door ajar.\u00a0 Creeping inside, Dariona spotted her children sitting in chairs with silvery knives to their necks being held by evil and deranged CIA Monsters.\u00a0\u00a0 Sliding the blade across the necks of the kids, cause Dariona to lose all hope, and forced her hand to end every part of her new life with Fire.<\/p>\n<p>\u2013\u2013 written by Cadeejah<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hello and welcome to my story about place and belonging, staring Dariona.\u00a0 I have five photos that really captured my attention. \u00a0I feel they have many themes, like feeling alone and sad, being scared and trapped, and having a touch of confusion because I could easily identify the ideas within the sub-context.
