<\/a>Raffi is an English major<\/p><\/div>\n
Kiureghian, my unpronounceable last name, comes from Armenia\u2014a small country in between Turkey and Iran. \u00a0That’s where my family’s lineage begins, I’m told. \u00a0Personally, I’ve never been there. \u00a0I was born in California and went on to move to a number of places: Maracaibo (Venezuela), Houston (Texas), Lagos (Nigeria), Claremont (California), Doha (Qatar), and now I’m here, at Vassar College, (problematically) within Poughkeepsie.<\/p>\n
I care about being creative. \u00a0In middle school, I began a fruitful career in writing poems and playing guitar in terrible punk bands. \u00a0I still write poems, though mostly for class, which is unfortunate. \u00a0I write songs, too, but I think there’s still room for a punk band in my life since I have plenty of angst, embarrassingly, still.<\/p>\n
I do some other things, as well. \u00a0I talk about one of them below.<\/p>\n
