She understands that, in many cases, our actions do not always line up with our intentions and that this discrepancy makes for great storytelling. For a bit of comic relief, Tan also weaves\u00a0scientific anecdotes or references (i.e. quantum mechanics and string theory) into the discussion to relate to the more scientifically-minded people in the audience. Laugh and learn with the TED\u00a0audience as Amy Tan&#8217;s discussion of creativity begins with her childhood and travels all around the world to the places in which she&#8217;s sought inspiration.
