Spring is here!\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p dir=\"ltr\">News will be distributed by email and will also be posted to the Bulletin Board near the south entrance to the\u00a0<span class=\"il\">garden<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Headlines:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1) Compost\/mulch available!\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0This is PFP composted leaves.\u00a0 This is excellent for adding organic matter to your vegetable beds and for suppressing weeds.\u00a0 The cost is $25 per tractor bucket load (about 3\/4 of a cubic yard) delivered to a public area near your plot.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>You may order by clicking\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/farmproject.us20.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=421072d0a1213e6fd875867df&amp;id=0204cc1d9f&amp;e=b71912352b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and paying via Paypal or sending in a check, as instructed in the order form.\u00a0 More extensive instructions can be found below also.\u00a0<strong>The deadline for ordering is\u00a0 Saturday, April 27<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>2)\u00a0<strong>Tilling available!<\/strong>\u00a0 Joe Lyons, a long time gardener at the VCCG plots will till your garden\u00a0for a small fee.\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Please contact Joe directly.<\/strong>\u00a0Joe\u2019s contact information is on the bulletin board under the mulberry tree at the south end of the VCCG.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3) Workday #1 is Saturday, April 27, 1-3:30 pm.\u00a0 If you signed up for it, you will receive an email reminder one week ahead of time.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>We&#8217;ll need plenty of cardboard, large pieces are preferable.\u00a0 It needs to be brown on both sides (no laminated cardboard) so it breaks down properly.\u00a0 Please remove any tape and flatten the cardboard before donating or using.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4)\u00a0The annual Poughkeepsie Farm Project Plant Sale is scheduled for Saturdays, May 4th and 11th.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">This is a great opportunity for organic veggies\u00a0that will thrive in your\u00a0<span class=\"il\">gardens<\/span>. In 2017, the Poughkeepsie Farm Project handed over management of the\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Community<\/span>\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Garden<\/span>\u00a0to a team of volunteers, all of whom are\u00a0<span class=\"il\">garden<\/span>\u00a0members. The current\u00a0<span class=\"il\">garden<\/span>\u00a0managers, elected in September of 2018, are Mary Nisley (plot 6C&amp;D), Myra Hughey (21H), Carlie Graves (9A&amp;B ), and Bojana Zupan (25E&amp;26E ). We manage all aspects of the\u00a0<span class=\"il\">garden<\/span>\u00a0from registration and finances to the maintenance of the\u00a0<span class=\"il\">garden<\/span>\u00a0space to fielding questions to resolving issues within the\u00a0<span class=\"il\">garden<\/span>. We hope to make the Vassar College\u00a0<span class=\"il\">Community<\/span><span class=\"il\">Garden<\/span>\u00a0a better space for everyone, and we welcome every\u00a0<span class=\"il\">garden<\/span>\u00a0member to become involved in this process!<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>New Website!<\/strong><br \/>\nClick\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/farmproject.us20.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=421072d0a1213e6fd875867df&amp;id=090409f0c1&amp;e=b71912352b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>\u00a0for the new website.\u00a0 Newsletters (ie this email) will also be posted on the website.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Planting now<\/strong>: lettuce, spinach, chard, mustard, and other greens, carrots, peas, and onions!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Compost\/Mulch &#8211; by mail<\/strong>: Mail a check for $25.00 per load to Vassar College (c\/o Myra Hughey; 124 Raymond Avenue; Box 0548; Poughkeepsie, NY 12604). The check should be made out to Vassar College. So that we can deliver the compost to the appropriate location,\u00a0<strong>please write on the memo line \u201cCompost for Plot # ____\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0specifying your plot number. Checks will also be accepted in person by any\u00a0<span class=\"il\">garden<\/span>\u00a0manager (Mary, Carlie, Myra, or Bojana).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Water line repairs:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>We are in negotiations with Vassar regarding repair of the water lines.
