We are pleased to announce that this year\u2019s event is graciously hosted by the University of Virginia\u2019s Center for Teaching Excellence and sponsored by the UVA Office of the Vice Provost for Academic Outreach.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle ii04i59q\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">In alignment with the mission of SIG041 and the strategic priorities of the University of Virginia, the goal of the Summit is to bring together a diverse community of faculty and staff from across the Commonwealth and the nation to share innovative, community-engaged pedagogical methods and practice-based tools that aim to enhance the student experience while addressing broader community-identified needs with a focus on high-impact practices (HIPS) and community-engaged teaching and learning best practices.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle ii04i59q\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">SUMMIT GOAL(S): The 2022 Experiential Commons Scholar Summit will help to build internal capacity for high-quality, high-impact community-engaged pedagogy and practice that meets the needs of students, faculty, staff, and the community while also enhancing the impact of existing pedagogy and practice. This summit aims to provide a pathway for faculty, staff, and community to collaboratively:<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle ii04i59q\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">Increase representation in exposure to high-impact experiential learning for first-generation, Pell grant eligible, and underrepresented minoritized students;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Recognize community partners in community pedagogy and practice as co-educators and\/or co-researchers;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Provide transferable methods and tools that enhance the student learning experience in the classroom and beyond;<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">Expand academic development opportunities for faculty, especially junior and underrepresented faculty, via engagement in community-engaged scholarship.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle ii04i59q\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">Summit attendees will receive professional learning from a diverse group of community-engaged faculty presenters. With over 24 sessions to choose from during the 2-day event, attendees will have the opportunity to engage in rich dialogue, network with others in the field, and gain take-away methods and tools to enhance their practice and their students&#8217; learning. All attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy a networking reception to coincide with UVA\u2019s Public Service Week on the evening of Thursday, March 24, a Keynote Address by recognized leaders in the field on both Friday and Saturday mornings, a multitude of interactive PD sessions, and opportunities to engage with community partners and organizations in the Charlottesville area.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle ii04i59q\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">Interested in Presenting? As a presenter, you will receive two free nights of lodging in Charlottesville, VA from March 24-26, free conference registration, and free lunch daily. The Summit will host approximately 120 attendees from community-engaged institutions across Virginia and the nation so this is a great opportunity to network, brainstorm, and collaborate.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql o9v6fnle ii04i59q\">\n<div dir=\"auto\">We are especially looking for sessions from presenters bringing diverse knowledges and perspectives from a wide variety of disciplines across all levels of higher education, to share their community-engaged teaching and learning frameworks, student\/community collaborative projects, specific classroom tools and assignments, innovative reflection methods, dissemination of student work to\/with the community, and assessment of student learning in community-engaged\/experiential courses.
