Why this is spam
The “To:” field contained a very large list of people at Vassar
The URL, or link, embedded in the message is not a familiar one
The URL, or link, embedded in the message goes to a pharmaceutical website
Additional notes
If you know the person who appeared to have sent the message, call them and ask if they sent it. It only takes a few minutes to verify if it is legitimate.
Report it as spam to Google. Before deleting the message, make sure to click on “report spam”.
This message went out to hundreds of Vassar constituents, with different originating email addresses and different links in the content of the message.
A little paranoia goes a long way! Be suspicious of any email messages similar to this one.
