This helps ensure that sharing and backup of your items is successful.<\/p>\n<h3>Create an item<\/h3>\n<p>You can create new folders, documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and more by clicking the red NEW button <a data-postid=\"fsg_post_59\" data-imgid=\"181\" href=\"http:\/\/pages.vassar.edu\/caadpendium\/files\/2015\/06\/new-button.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-181 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/pages.vassar.edu\/caadpendium\/files\/2015\/06\/new-button.jpg\" alt=\"new-button\" width=\"117\" height=\"31\" \/><\/a> on the left side of your screen (or on the top if you are using the mobile app).<\/p>\n<h3>Upload a file<\/h3>\n<p>You can upload items (like sound\/audio files, videos, and more) by clicking New &gt; File Upload:<\/p>\n<p><a data-postid=\"fsg_post_59\" data-imgid=\"182\" href=\"http:\/\/pages.vassar.edu\/caadpendium\/files\/2015\/06\/new-fileupload.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-182\" src=\"http:\/\/pages.vassar.edu\/caadpendium\/files\/2015\/06\/new-fileupload-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"new-fileupload\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pages.vassar.edu\/caadpendium\/files\/2015\/06\/new-fileupload-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/pages.vassar.edu\/caadpendium\/files\/2015\/06\/new-fileupload.jpg 279w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Using Your Folders and Files<\/h3>\n<p>Every item that you place in Google Drive will be shared by your group members, faculty advisers, and DiSSCo liaison.<\/p>\n<p>As noted above, you can create new documents, new folders, and new files. <a title=\"File Naming Conventions\" href=\"http:\/\/pages.vassar.edu\/caadpendium\/best-practices\/file-naming-conventions\/\">How you arrange them is up to you!<\/a><\/p>\n<table class=\"c11\" style=\"border: 1px solid #ff9900;background: #ffcc99\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr class=\"c13\">\n<td class=\"c9\" colspan=\"1\" rowspan=\"1\"><strong><span class=\"c7 c2\">CAUTION!<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"c10\">Remember, this is a <\/span><span class=\"c2\">shared folder.<\/span><span class=\"c10\"> If you use Google\u2019s capacity to view your drive on your computer instead of the web, <\/span><span class=\"c2\">the sharing aspect does not change<\/span><span class=\"c7 c10 c15\">. Delete files very carefully!<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<table class=\"c11\" style=\"background: #c0d7a3;border: 1px solid #336600\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr class=\"c13\">\n<td class=\"c5\" colspan=\"1\" rowspan=\"1\"><strong><span class=\"c7 c8\">MOVE, DON\u2019T DELETE<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span class=\"c8\">Best practice tip:<\/span><\/strong><span class=\"c7 c14\"> if you are unsure about what to delete, move the materials into the folder marked <strong>\u201cTrash\u201d<\/strong> in your drive.
