VAST Activities: Art Appreciation

This year in VAST Art Appreciation we will be focusing on the art of “Storytelling without Words,” looking at the various different ways of representing narratives through painting, fabric, photography, objects, and space. We hope to use narratives as a way of relating on a deeper and more personal level with art objects and to help recognize the ways in which media effects a response to a story. Through group discussions of specific works and creative projects related to different methods of production, we hope to present opportunities that encourage students to express themselves artistically and to think critically about how to tell their own story through visual art.
