VAST Activities: Haitian Art

Scholars and mentors alike have been busy at the VAST Haiti Project dipping their brushes into paint and exploring their creative sides!

For the first activity of the semester, we painted turtles made out of recycled stones as they have a special significance in Haitian culture and make a great canvas for capturing Haiti’s vibrant landscapes.

In deep concentration!

Look at the variety of colors used!

Not only was the painting activity fun and relaxing, scholars got to admire their handmade crafts and take them home after they were left to dry.
