The dance activity is off to a great start!

Every week, a different classroom group comes to the dance activity and works together on learning and creating different line dances.  So far, the seventh grade classrooms have gotten to try the activity.

First, we played a get-to-know-you game using different dance moves to introduce ourselves.  Before dancing, we stretched as a group, and the scholars taught the mentors different stretches that they enjoyed.  We warmed up with some popular line dances like the Cha-Cha Slide, the Cupid Shuffle, and Jump On It and then created our own line dance as a group.  We used the popular line dances as inspiration for the new dance and incorporated moves from different genres like hip-hop, jazz, and step.

At the end of the semester, we hope that each classroom group will have created a unique line dance and learned some new dance moves along the way.

We can’t wait to continue dancing after October break!
