VAST Celebrations (Spring 2013)

To celebrate the end of the 2012-2013 school year, VAST had two final celebrations.

On May 6, the last day of VAST, we had an 8th Grade Graduation ceremony. We handed out certificates to the 6th and 7th graders to thank them for participating in VAST this year, and we gave special certificates to the 8th grade students to congratulate them on their graduation.

VAST especially wanted to thank Joseph, an 11th grade student at Poughkeepsie High School, who took time out of his busy schedule to volunteer at VAST and help with tutoring:

VAST also gave a shout-out to Vassar College seniors who graduated in May 2013. Some of these seniors volunteered with VAST for four years and are now moving on to start new jobs or graduate school. We will miss them so much in the fall!

On Saturday May 11, VAST had a second end-of-the-year party at Vassar College. Unfortunately it was raining so we couldn’t be outside for a picnic, but we had pizza indoors, played board games, and watched the VAST Dance group perform. The celebration was combined with Exploring College, another VCUEI program that helps local high school students prepare for college.
