Immunizations

Vaccines offered at Baldwin Health Services:

  • Flu vaccine
  • Hepatitis A (Vaccine information sheet)
  • Hepatitis B
  • Polio (Inactivated) vaccine
  • Meningitis Vaccine
  • MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine)
  • TD (tetanus,diptheria,pertussis)
  • Typhoid Inactivated vaccine
  • Anti – Malarial medications are offered by prescription only.

These immunizations are available by appointment at Baldwin Health Services by calling 845-437-5800 or by campus phone at x5800. Charges will be put on your student account.

Several travel immunizations are only available off-campus. These include Japanese Encephalitis, Yellow Fever, Rabies, and Oral Typhoid. They are available at these local locations:

Flu Vaccine Clinic

The CDC recommends a yearly flu vaccine as the first and most important step in protecting against influenza.  The vaccine is recommended for all ages and is now available for students at the Health Service.

Clinic Information:

Wednesday Oct. 3rd, 10th, 24th, 31st &  Nov. 7th, 14th28th & December 5th

2nd floor of Baldwin 

You do not need an appointment, just come in between 1 -4pm

You may also make an appointment if you are not available during the above hours 

The vaccine is given in your upper arm so please wear appropriate loose clothing.  This year’s flu vaccine is preservative free.

There is a $22.00 fee for the immunization which will be charged to your student account.

Allergy Testing

The Vassar College Health Service offers allergy injections for all students currently receiving treatment from their personal allergist. We require your physician’s orders as well as the serum from your attending allergist. These can be brought to Health Service upon arrival to campus.

Appointments can be made by calling 845-437-5800. The available hours are: Monday-Friday: 9:00am–11:20am and 1:00pm– 3:20pm.

After their appointment, students are required to remain at the health services for 30 minutes for observation. Every effort will be made to accommodate your scheduling needs.

Please remember to collect your doctor’s orders and schedules as well as your allergy serum prior to leaving campus for holidays and breaks. There is a nominal charge for this service. Please see “How our billing works” for further information.

Vassar EMS

Vassar College Emergency Medical Services (VCEMS) provides high-quality, confidential emergency medical care for Vassar College community during the academic year. VCEMS operates on weeknights from 5PM until 8AM, and provides 24-hour coverage from Friday at 5PM until Monday morning at 8AM. VCEMS also provides extra coverage during large-scale campus events, such as Halloweekend and Founder’s Day. The minimum requirement for riding with VCEMS is having a national CPR/AED certification, but the majority of our members are also NY-certified EMT-Bs.

VCEMS works with the college to maintain the Good Samaritan Policy which ensures that those seeking medical assistance for themselves or a friend in need will not be subjected to College regulations regarding alcohol or drug use. For more information about the Good Samaritan Policy please see the Vassar Student Handbook (p.99, C4).
