Jenny Magnes has researched various areas of optics: diatomic alkali
spectroscopy, quantum optics, molecular optics, optomechanical methods, nano-structures, and biophotonics.
Jenny Magnes is interested in developing approaches
that are effective during experiences in the classroom.
In her work, she has also fully engaged
undergraduates and taken research topics into the classroom.
Jenny Magnes and her research team used optical approaches such as
scattering to study micro-organisms, and iridescence is involved in different interference effects. Using non-linear dynamics in the area of chaos and uncertainty,
Jenny Magnes is currently investigating the locomotory predictability of microorganisms.  -Vassar Bio Professor Magnes
