Free Black Communities Along the Hudson

Attendees will examine the stages of securing freedom, defending it against constant incursion, and ultimately the flourishing of individual persons and dreams along America’s river of dreams. Presented by Bill Jeffway, Executive Director of the Dutchess County Historical Society.

 

Career/Experience Fair at the Poughkeepsie Library

We will present high school students with options and opportunities related to different professions and career tracks. This event will differ from the traditional career fair, with the participants focusing on their personal experiences and professional development. We hope to show students that one may be able to experience multiple careers and that growth is a continuous process. No registration is required.

 

Presentaremos a los estudiantes de secundaria opciones y oportunidades relacionadas con diferentes profesiones y trayectorias profesionales. Este evento se diferenciará de la feria profesional tradicional, ya que los participantes se centrarán en sus experiencias personales y su desarrollo profesional. Esperamos mostrarles a los estudiantes que uno puede experimentar múltiples carreras y que el crecimiento es un proceso continuo. Algunos profesionales que participan son bilingües y estarán felices de hablar con los estudiantes en español. No es necesario registrarse.

Virtual Narcan Training

The Dutchess County Department of Behavioral & Community Health online training session explains why Narcan works to reverse an opioid overdose. what to do when an opioid overdose is suspected, and how/when to administer Narcan. While there is no age minimum for the training, only those 18 years of age and older are eligible to receive a free Narcan kit post-training. Kits will be available from Krista Miller at Adriance Memorial Library.

Registration with birth date required. A link will be emailed prior to the training.
