Keynote

At this year’s forum, a keynote address was delivered by Dr. Peter Sommer, Director of Education at the Columbia Center for New Media Teaching & Learning.

At the CCNMTL, Peter Sommer has originated and produced numerous new media projects, including the design of analytic and communication tools, digital archives, multimedia study environments and simulations.   His efforts, particularly in the area of educational simulations, have won grants from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and the National Science Foundation. In the past year, he has presented papers to: The International Conference on Engineering Education, The National Digital Government Conference, The American Medical Informatics Association Annual Symposium, The Association for Educational Communications and Technology, and The AERA National Convention, on the topic of the use of new media for teaching and learning in higher education.

Peter Sommer also directs the evaluation and design research efforts at the Columbia’s Center for New Media Teaching and Learning.
