Page-Boyden

Boyden (American)

The artist known only as Boyden uses construction paper, pencil, and crayons. Her drawings have certain features that are common to many self-taught artists: heavy outlines, flat figures with no modeling, round heads, and frequently, an intense decorative quality. She uses thickly applied, vibrant colors to create crude depictions of people, which are removed from their environment and shown in a flattened, contained space.
