Chris has a B.S. in Geology from SUNY New Paltz. He never misses an opportunity to study rocks and has traveled extensively to do Geology field work all around the USA. In addition to rocks, Chris is very interested in computing technology, particularly Supercomputing. He is a Linux enthusiast and has built countless computing systems to support Vassar Faculty and Students, both physically, and on cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services. Chris is Vassar College’s primary HPC (High-Performance Computing) facilitator and is an XSEDE Campus Champion.
In addition to facilitating research computing projects, Chris also supports Science faculty with media projects, WordPress, Moodle and, very often, more general technology/computer questions. Chris has worked in Vassar’s CIS department since December 2010 and has lived in the Hudson Valley his entire life.
In his life outside of work, Chris enjoys traveling, building projects, the outdoors, and is an avid Powerlifting competitor in the USA Powerlifting federation, competing in the 83kg weight class.
Chris is the ACS liaison to the departments of Biology, Chemistry, Cognitive Science, Earth Science & Geography, Mathematics & Statistics, Physics & Astronomy, and Psychology, a well as the natural sciences-oriented programs.
