Many students at Vassar are unaware of what AEO does and what they can provide for students with disabilities.  Some students with disabilities at Vassar did not receive accommodations in high school.  These students may become used to doing without accommodations.  This can become the norm for these students and they can come to believe that they do not need accommodations.  While these students might be able to do just fine without accommodations, they may remain unaware of certain accommodations that could benefit their academic performance or day-to-day life.

Conversely, there are a handful of students with disabilities that are very familiar with the accommodations that are available to students.  These students tend to be those that are registered with AEO.
